tāṅdera caraṇa sevi bhakta-sane vāsa, janame janame haya, ei abhilāṣa

A devotee should always aspire to live in the association of advanced devotees and engage in the service of the Lord through the paramparā system. One should serve the mission of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu through the instructions of the great Gosvāmīs of Vṛndāvana. This is called tāṅdera caraṇa sevi.

While serving the lotus feet of the Gosvāmīs, one should live in the association of devotees (bhakta-sane vāsa). This is the business of a devotee. A devotee should not aspire for material profit or lament for material loss. When Aṅgirā Ṛṣi and Nārada saw that Mahārāja Citraketu, an advanced devotee, had fallen in the darkness of ignorance and was lamenting for the material body of his son, by their causeless mercy they came to advise him so that he could be saved from this ignorance.

Fortunate, more fortunate, most fortunate

On being asked by Parikshit Maharaj about who was a fortunate person, his spiritual master, Srila Sukadev Goswami, replied,”The person who has been blessed with the guidance of a spiritual master is fortunate. One who has heard once from his spiritual master is more fortunate. And one who hears repeatedly from his spiritual master is the most fortunate.”

Please take care of her

On the day of our marriage, my wife was very eager to get Maharaj’ darshan and seek his blessings. Somehow, we reached Sri Sri Radha Gopinath Temple just in time to get personal darshan with Maharaj. As we waited at the door of the temple hall, Maharaj came-up from the stairs, and stood right in front of us. One senior god-sister introduced us and conveyed the intent of our visit. Radhanath Swami with a very serious voice, but at the same time, one which was extremely loving and full of utmost concern, turned toward me and, with folded hands, looking straight into my eyes, said,”Please take care of her.” I was struck with wonder looking at his genuine feeling of anxiety, just as would be experienced by the father of a newly wed daughter, and his sincere request to me. Being the spiritual master, Maharaj could have had said the same thing as an instruction. But he decided to don the role of a father, and gave his instruction with a large dose of paternal love, and conveyed it in the form of a request.

Radhanath Swami is the most beautiful person…

On his first visit to Sri Sri Radha Gopinath Temple, Uncle Gary, as he is fondly addressed by all the disciples of Radhanath Swami, had a question for the celibate disciples in the temple. “How are you able to maintain your vows of celibacy in the presence of so many beautiful members of the opposite gender?” “Simple,” replied Govind Prabhu. “We have Radhanath Swami with us. He is the most beautiful person, and we are all captivated by his beauty,” was his reply.

Integrity

Integrity means under any circumstance, I uphold my ideals.
It does not matter whether it is difficult or hard.
Whether it is safe or dangerous.
Whether it is pleasurable or painful.
Whether I live or die.
This is integrity.
I will uphold and preserve the ideals that I hold sacred in my life.
And we are all tested.

Hare Krishna

Hare Krishna.

Welcome to the blog of Amar Gaur das.

This site is an offering of gratitude to my eternal spiritual master, His Holiness Radhanath Swami Maharaj.

This blog would contain gems of wisdom as heard from my spiritual master.

Of all the senses, the sense of hearing is the most “tikhsna”, sharp. Just by using it sincerely in the service of the spiritual master and applying the knowledge thus received, one can perfect one’ life. With this end in perspective, I would try and compile whatever I have heard from the lotus mouth of my eternal spiritual master. I do not claim, though, that the compilations are verbatim; neither do I claim that they do not contain a pinch of my realisations churned by my petty intelligence.

Please pray that this insignificant effort pleases my master.

In the service of all servants of His Holiness Radhanath Swami.
